Understanding and Managing Anxiety in Everyday Living
Anxiety is a normal part of life, yet when out of balance it can take control of you and reduce your quality of life. This workshop teaches you to understand and learn to be aware of what is happening in your body so you have the knowledge and skills to better manage your anxiety. We cannot promise anyone a future completely free of anxiety; instead we aim to educate you about anxiety and to offer you the tools to help you reduce and control your anxiety. Fear increases anxiety; being well educated and skilled reduces fear and can enable you to reduce, understand and manage your anxiety in everyday living.
The workshop covers the following areas over four weeks:
• Learn to take control of your anxiety rather than have it be in control of you • How anxiety works in your body and how to manage your symptoms • Strategies for everyday living • Developing a maintenance program – a holistic approach to looking after your anxiety in the longer term and preventing relapse
• I found the information extremely helpful as I now have better insight that I wasn't clear about in understanding my own anxiety • The groups were great as we could learn together • Thank you for allowing me to be part of this group and helping the members of the group to understand their conditions better • I liked the way we were able to learn and take the information at our own pace • Good to hear different experiences, and ideas, nice to be with others that suffer and understand anxiety • The handouts were helpful in the presentation. It helped me work though a particular situation that has caused me great anxiety • Good - non confronting - safe • This is the first time I had been in a group. It is good to have input from others and to have them ask questions I may have been too timid to ask myself. Great to know there are other people in life who struggle with this also
