ME/CFS & Fibromyalgia Support Group
The Living Life Support Group began in 2004 and has continued to meet monthly with newcomers welcome at any time. It is a time to be real with a positive focus. ME/CFS is a complex and debilitating illness that can significantly impact the quality of life of the individual, their families and support people. Isolation and misunderstanding can greatly increase the difficulty of living with this illness. It helps to meet with other people who truly understand what it means to live with ME/CFS. As one participant said, “I hadn’t met anyone with CFS before; it’s made me feel so normal again.”
We explore different discussion topics and share coping strategies and different ideas of what each has found helpful. There is a focus on learning together and supporting and encouraging each other. Learning to live well with ME/CFS does not make everything better by any means; however, being understood and having support can make a difference and break down some of the isolation. The philosophy behind this group is to ‘live life’ as well as you can with the illness with which you live every day. We may not have a choice in having the illness; we do have choices in how we live each day. Dates for 2011
* Please note December we meet till 1 pm as we celebrate lunch together.
